A major barrier to the expansion of transplantation in the United States, and the ability of people to receive life-saving gifts, has been the logistics of getting an organ from one place to another seamlessly, efficiently, effectively, and safely. This acquisition of Summit Aviation by TransMedics is truly a step in the right direction. I’m excited about this acquisition. It does have the potential to transform transplant aviation.
