A Mission Rooted in Experience
Chris Molaro’s journey from Army artillery officer to mental health tech founder is deeply personal. After 10 years of military service and firsthand exposure to the mental health struggles of his soldiers and himself, Chris saw the need for scalable, objective, and timely behavioral health support. This vision led to the founding of Neuroflow eight years ago—a company built to bridge critical gaps in behavioral health care through a tech-first, data-driven approach.
Strategic Growth Through Acquisitions
Since the last podcast episode two years ago, Neuroflow has undergone tremendous transformation. In that time, the company acquired four organizations, including Capital Solution Design (creator of BHL), broadening its data analytics and risk stratification capabilities. These integrations have enabled Neuroflow to provide deeper value to its customers, including health systems, payers, and federal agencies like the VA.
From “App” to Platform
One of the most profound changes Chris emphasized was shifting away from the perception of Neuroflow as merely an app. The company made deliberate branding decisions, renaming its mobile engagement tool to "Onward by Neuroflow." This clarified that the app is a feature—not the foundation—of the broader Neuroflow platform. The change was critical in removing barriers for populations less inclined to use apps, such as those relying on SMS or email.
Introducing BHIQ: Data Without Disruption
A major leap came with the release of BHIQ, a product that leverages existing healthcare data (like EHR and claims data) to pinpoint behavioral health risks—without requiring direct patient engagement. This enables health organizations to identify needs earlier and with fewer workflow disruptions. The shift reflects Neuroflow's belief that point solutions are becoming obsolete; instead, embedding seamlessly into clinical workflows is the future.
Driven by Purpose, Not Profit
Chris’s personal connection to the mental health crisis continues to fuel his mission. Despite leading a company with national reach, he shared emotional stories about loved ones still struggling to access care—underscoring that the system remains imperfect. For Chris, success isn’t measured in valuation or exits; it’s measured in impact. And Neuroflow is only just getting started.
