What you’ll get out of this episode:
Listen in as Host, Tim Fitzpatrick chats with Dr. Mitten and Dr. Hasselberg about the innovative biopsychosocial model framework that University of Rochester’s Health Lab is trying to transform into a scientific model. University of Rochester’s Health Lab has pivoted into looking at the patient as a whole, and not just looking at the “broken spring”.
In this episode you’ll discover:
- When it comes to education, there has been two big changes in the orthopedic field. One change being, simulation. Simulation is used by technical simulators that provide haptic feedback, and VR. Virtual Reality has played a role in being able to train surgical residents to develop the 3D space ability and to disassociate where your looking and your hand motion.
- University of Rochester’s Health Lab is working to build a “smart health system.” Dr. Hasselberg defines this as allowing University of Rochester’s health system to switch to value based care and leverage all the new data that is collected.
- VR has provided a way to grade performance of a resident during procedure simulations.
